I Pledge Allegiance, the patriotic history of the Pledge, is a presentation including intriguing, little-known details about the origins of the Pledge of Allegiance, the background of the recognized author an explanation of why the Pledge has changed during its 127 year history, legal challenges, an explanation of each of the phrases making up the pledge.
Presented by Richard Middleton. Mr. Middleton graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Statistics. He received his Distinguished Military Graduate officer commission in the US Army. After his commission, Dick was selected to be an instructor a the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. His professional history includes Xerox Corporation and business professor with the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. Dick is retired and lives in Eden Prairie. Dick is a member of American Legion Post #580 in Chanhassen, MN and a member of the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad.
